China midfielder Pan Lina might be forced to miss their women's World Cup Group D game against Australia due to a knee injury, a source from the Chinese team said Sunday in Los Angeles.

Pan, 26, was stretched off the field after falling to the ground during China's 1-0 victory over Ghana at the Home Depot Center in Carson, feared to have sustained a bad knee injury.

The source said that Pan had been taken to a nearby hospital to have a further check and could be "sent back to China" if her injury was proved serious.

Pan, 26, has good vision and excellent passing skills in centalmid field. Under coach Ma Liangxing's charge, Pan always plays in a withdrawn role, before the back four. Her place will be taken by 21-year-old Qu Feifei.
