Russian Prime Minister arrives in Beijing

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov arrived in Beijing early Tuesday to attend the consultation of prime ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov arrived in Beijing early Tuesday to attend the consultation of prime ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members.

Tajik Prime Minister Akil Akilov, Kyrgyz Prime Minister NikolaiTanayev, Kazakh Prime Minister Daniyal Akhmetov and Uzbek Prime Minister Utkur Sultanov had arrived separately on Monday.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will attend the consultation.

It was reported that the six prime ministers will discuss SCO organization mechanism building and regional economic cooperation at the consultation.

Kasyanov will pay an official visit to China from Sept. 24 to Sept. 25 after the consultation. Wen and Kasyanov will hold the eighth regular meeting between the two countries' prime ministers. They will make an appraisal of the overall Sino-Russian relations and plan further cooperation, including cooperation on energy resources, according to China's Foreign Ministry.

Kasyanov said on Sunday that Russia and China have the sincerity to coordinate interests and seek mutual beneficial cooperation. He said he hoped the consultation between him and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on the cooperative issues would be fruitful.

The SCO was established on June 15, 2001.
