Koizumi picks LDP vice president, secretary general
Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, who was reelected Saturday as president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), named LDP Secretary General Taku Yamasaki as the party's vice president on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Koizumi picked Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary ShinzoAbe to replace Yamasaki as the party's secretary general.
Koizumi met with Yamasaki around 11 a.m. (0200 GMT) at his official residence to discuss the new LDP leadership lineup after Koizumi won the widespread support of lawmakers and dues-paying members nationwide.
He said he will change the roster of the LDP leadership Sunday and reshuffle his cabinet Monday.
