At the closing of the three-day 2003 Forbes Global CEO Conference in Shanghai on Thursday, it was announced that Hong Kong has been selected as the host city for 2004 Forbes Global CEO Conference.

"The fact that this will be the third year in a row that we will host this event in China - Hong Kong last year, Shanghai this year and Hong Kong next year - is testimony to the growing importance of the China market to the global economy," said Steve Forbes, president, CEO and editor-in-chief of Forbes.

The 2003 Forbes conference attracted about 400 global CEOs and business leaders to discuss and debate the global economy, as well as the role and future China plays in business, finance and geopolitics.

"We are extremely pleased to see so many senior executives and business leaders gather here," said Steve Forbes at the closing press conference. "Three days is a short time, but the outcome of the exchange of ideas and opinions is truly significant."

"We sincerely hope this convention of entrepreneurs will help increase business and investment between China and the global community," he added.

It was the third time that the Forbes Global CEO Conference has been held in Asia. In 2001, the conference was held in Singapore, followed by Hong Kong in 2002. The next Forbes Global CEO Conference, with Invest Hong Kong as the host sponsor, will take place in autumn of 2004.
