Yu Changjiang, director-general of the aforementioned bureau, enumerated four main persistent ailments of the current tourism market on Tuesday. First, travel agencies are managed in breach of regulations, coupled with repeated occurrence of. Second, tourist guides secretly take kickbacks and swindles tourists. Third, illegal sightseeing buses and tourist guides refuse to stop operation despite repeated bans. And lastly, environments around scenic spots are plagued by many problems.

Therefore, under the coordination of Beijing Municipal Government, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism will carry out an overall rectification of the city's tourism market jointly with relevant departments such as Beijing Industrial and Commercial Administration and Beijing Public Security Bureau.

The city's tourism bureau has begun to enforce the disclosure system of travel agencies' credit dossier. Before signing up in a travel group tourists can first look into the agency's credit. Besides, the tourism bureau will periodically publish the progress in handling complaints against travel agencies and prelease material tour complaints at any time.

In addition, in order to regularize the "one-day tour" market and crack down on "illegal sightseeing buses and tourist guides", the tourism bureau is making preparations to set up "Beijing tourism distribution center", so that Beijing citizens and inbound travelers will participate in the local tour as well as the city's peripheral tour. With its detailed plans currently being under way, the center is expected to be formally established nest year.
