Malaysian, Chinese officials address Beijing business forum
China's economic growth poses challenges for its Asian neighbors, but also offers unprecedented opportunities, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Tuesday in Beijing.
China's economic growth poses challenges for its Asian neighbors, but also offers unprecedented opportunities, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Tuesday in Beijing.
The growth, prosperity and stability of China's economy would help Malaysia and other nations in the region, Badawi told the China-Malaysia Business Forum.
The Malaysian government supported close international links between enterprises, and hoped to enhance cooperation in high-tech industries while expanding traditional trade and economic cooperation, he said in a keynote speech, "China, challenge and opportunity".
Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan said in response that trade and economic cooperation between China and Malaysia had made significant achievements in recent years, and become an important impetus driving the development of bilateral ties.
The two sides signed a series of agreements during Deputy Prime Minister Badawi's visit, which indicated promising prospects for trade and economic cooperation, he said.
Tang hoped that enterprises from both sides would actively cooperate, so as to promote trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
China adhered to the policy of mutual prosperity and friendship with its neighbors, and would never interfere with or "trouble" its neighbors, Tang said. China would be a major power in promoting world peace and common prosperity.
About 600 business representatives from the two nations attended the forum.
