Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi and Liu Qi, secretary of Beijing municipal committee of the Communist Party of China, attended the closing ceremony.
A total of 2,006 companies and institutions attended the expo, at which six trade talks and 22 forums were held.
The four-day expo was co-sponsored by six state departments andthe Beijing municipal government. The next expo will be held from May 22 to 26, 2004.
Compared with former expos, this one is of more characteristics. Firstly, enterprises in West China are more enthusiastic about participation, and foreign investors show great interest in West China. Secondly, the expo is more pragmatic. The grand opening ceremony is cancelled and more time is left for the participators. Thirdly, more big companies both at home and abroad are present, singing more contracts with more sum of money.
Over 350 distinguished guests both at home and abroad attend the expo, including the delegates of the international Top 500 enterprises from USA, Germany and Italy and some officials from foreign embassies in China. More than 2,000 investment and cooperation projects are brought to this expo, with the value over $ 3 billion dollars.
