Zhang Yining takes women's singles title at China Open
World number one Zhang Yining lived up to her reputation when she crowned the women's singles champion at the China Open table tennis Championships in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province in Southeast China on Sunday.

Zhang smashed her compatriot Guo Yan's dream of winning her second title in a row after the South Korean Open with a 11-9, 11-4, 11-4, 6-11, 5-11, 10-12 and 11-9 victory in a dramatic final.

Zhang raced to a highly flying start 3-0 in sets, but made numerous unforced errors to allow Guo to level it at 3-3.

Guo led the decisive set 9-5, but the experienced Zhang earned six points in a run to seal the game.

"I thought I was one step away from a clean sweep when I led 3-0, but I wasted many chances by simple mistakes. Though I won the champion but I'm not mentally strong enough," said Zhang.

Guo, who hadn't expected a win over Zhang before the match, said: "As I said before the final, Zhang is the world No. 1. She had a better chance to win. I tried my best."

The four-day China Open concluded on Sunday with all four trophies going to Chinese players.
