UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said on Friday that it would be "unwise" to expel Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
"It would be unwise to expel Arafat," Annan told the media when asked about his reaction to Israel's decision on Thursday.
Israel's security cabinet on Thursday agreed in principle to expel Arafat and ordered Israeli defense forces to draw up a plan for Arafat's exile.
The move has drawn criticism from the international community.
Annan is here to discuss the Iraqi situation with foreign ministers from the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council on Saturday. The five permanent members are Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States.
