China exported 4.01 billion US dollars worth of furniture in the first seven months of the year, up 30.6 percent on the same period last year.
The figure was announced at the ninth China international furniture exposition in Shanghai on Wednesday.
The country exported 5.42 billion US dollars worth of furniture last year, a rise of 36.5 percent from 2001, of which, 52.5 percent was sold to the United States.
Cao Yingchao, general secretary of China Furniture Association, said China would continue to maintain fast growth in furniture exports in the next couple of years, but suggested more efforts should be made to improve Chinese companies' design of furniture bearing their own intellectual property rights.
The ninth China international furniture exposition is jointly hosted by China Furniture Association and Shanghai-based CMP Sino Expo International Exposition Co. Ltd. It will close on Sunday.
