China's Senior Official Starts Visit to Finland

Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, arrived in Helsinki on Tuesday to kick off his goodwill visit to the country.

Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, arrived in Helsinki on Tuesday to kick off his goodwill visit to the country.

Luo came here from Reykjavik after visiting Iceland. Finland is the second leg of his four-nation tour, which will also bring him to Armenia and Moldova.

In a written statement upon his arrival at the airport in Helsinki, Luo said Sino-Finnish relations developed steadily with exchanges and cooperation expanding in various fields since the two countries established diplomatic relations over five decades ago.

The bilateral relations present a sound momentum for development, Luo noted.

China attaches great importance to developing relations with Finland. The development of friendly, cooperative ties in an all-round manner between China and Finland conforms to the fundamentalinterests of the people of the two countries, said Luo.

He affirmed that China is ready to make joint efforts with the Finnish side to promote constant progress in the relations on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

Luo added he is looking forward to meetings with leaders of Finland on bilateral relations and international issues.

Finland is a nordic country with a population of 5.19 million.
