Yellow River Flood Crest Begins Entering Sea

This year's first flood crest on the Yellow River, one of the biggest rivers in China, has passed the last hydrological station on the river and begun to pour into the sea.
At 1:30 a.m. Monday, the flood crest passed the Lijin Hydrological Station in east China's Shandong Province at a speed of 2,450 cubic meters per second. Because there is more than 100 kilometers between the station and the estuary, experts predicted that the flood will have finished entering the sea at about 8:00 p.m. Monday.
No flood plain was created when the flood passed through the Shandong section, according to the local flood control headquarters, who admitted that dangerous situations were put under control in more than 100 areas.
Currently, the second flood crest has entered Shandong Province and the local government is now sparing no efforts to monitor and control it.
