Fatah Recommends Qurei as New Palestinian PM

The Fatah central committee (FCC) on Sunday recommended Palestinian Legislative Council Speaker Ahmed Qurei as new Palestinian prime minister, Palestinian sources said.

The Fatah central committee (FCC) on Sunday recommended Palestinian Legislative Council Speaker Ahmed Qurei as new Palestinian prime minister, Palestinian sources said.

The FCC made the decision after a closed-door meeting chaired by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

The executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is to meet late Sunday to discuss who will be the replacementfor Prime Minster Mahamoud Abbas, who resigned on Saturday.
