Death Toll from Food Poisoning Rises to 9 in NW China Province
One more person died Thursday aftereating rice bought from a local retailer in the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, northwest China, raising the total death toll to nine.
One more person died Thursday aftereating rice bought from a local retailer in the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, northwest China, raising the total death toll to nine.
In addition, another person was hospitalized on the same day after eating the rice, and is said to be in dangerous condition, according to local police Friday.
On Monday, three herdsmen in Qumalai County were the first reported to die suddenly after eating rice from the retailer, and another five people died on Tuesday.
The local authority confirmed the rice was the direct cause of the deaths and police have arrested the retailer.
