US President George W. Bush and some of his cabinet members will attend services to commemorate the second anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 on the United States, a White House spokesman announced Thursday.
Bush will attend a prayer service of remembrance and observe a moment of silence in Washington on Sept. 11, and Vice President Dick Cheney will attend a memorial service at Ground Zero in New York City, said spokesman Scott McClellan when announcing Bush's schedule aboard Air Force One.
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld will take part in a wreathlaying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, and Interior Secretary Gale Norton will attend a ceremony at Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where one of the four hijacked planes crashed.
Bush will also sign two proclamations, designating Sept. 11 as a national day of prayer and remembrance and the day as Patriot Day, said McClellan.
