Chinese President Hu Jintao Wednesday urged leading officials at the provincial and ministerial levels to arm themselves with the important thought of "Three Represents" in the drive to build a well-off society in an all-round way.
Hu made the statement at the opening ceremony of a seminar on studying and implementing "Three Represents" for leading officials at the provincial and ministerial levels held here Wednesday.
To build China into a well-off society in an all-round way is the best practice of studying and implementing the important thought, and therefore, is the best criterion for judging the effect of the study and implementation, Hu said.
Adhering to the principles of the important thought of "Three Represents," Party organs and governments at all levels should focus on the interests of common people, Hu said.
The leading Party and government officials should work on the problems and issues concerning more ordinary people and guarantee the majority of Chinese people benefit from the economic and social development, he said.
The Chinese president noted that a deep and continuous understanding of the important thought is needed because any scientific theory must be enriched and developed to meet the needs of the social development.
