Taiwan Authorities Should Find the Cause of Stowing
On the early morning of August 26, women numbering 26 from the Chinese mainland were abducted by criminals. When the two Taiwan speedboats carrying these women reached the open seas off Miaoli of Taiwan and were seized by a Taiwan "sea patrol squad", Taiwan snake-heads forcibly pushed these mainland women down into the waters, causing six of them drowned and two others injured.
Regarding this tragedy, people condemned the cruel, merciless and inhuman group of snake-heads, and lamented the deaths and ignorance of these innocent women stowaways, they strongly demanded Taiwan authorities to severely punish the tragic case-creating criminals and, beginning with tackling the source, adopt practical moves to severely attack such criminal acts, so as to eliminate the recurrence of similar incidents.
In the face of such a tragedy in man's world, how did the leaders of Taiwan authorities act in response? Logically speaking, since they flaunt "freedom" and "human rights" anytime and anywhere, they should have some sense of sympathy and show some humanitarian solicitude; and they should have the minimum sense of justice and the minimal legal concept in regard to the atrocities perpetrated by the group of snake-heads, but facts turned out to be what the island's media had said: leaders of Taiwan authorities lack the sense of justice and sympathy, instead, what they have are their private ends and political schemes.
Instead of condemning the hair-raising criminal acts of the group, they made use of the incident to spread absurd statements and make a big political issue. They claimed that it is most necessary for "Beijing to bear responsibility for the drowning of the women stowaways; that these stowaways cast votes with their feet to show their discontent with the Beijing authority; that the Beijing authority paid no attention to preventing the mainlanders from stowing to Taiwan and instead deliberately brought pressure to bear upon Taiwan in the international arena"; and that "Beijing should prevent mainland people from 'stowing' instead of refusing Taiwan acceding to the WHO (World Health Organization), or uniting other countries to boycott Taiwan's new travel certificates". Similar cases are numerous.
Their most apparent intention is to attempt to shirk their responsibility, divert attention, deceive some of the islanders, hurt the feelings of the people on both sides of the Straits and create contradictions between the two sides.
In sharp contrast to this, ordinary Taiwan people exhibit the brilliance of human nature. After the suspects were caught, a Taiwan person rushed forward to beat the suspects soundly and condemned them as "beasts", some other Taiwanese tried their best to help the needy mainland women narrowly escaped death. "Everyone is reared up by their parents", said a personage on the island, he asked "who would not get angry at the sight of the act of ruining human lives?" When one makes a comparison between the two, one can immediately tell who is better. No wonder that people of insight on the island, in words and deeds, mostly denounce the leaders of Taiwan authorities.
Recently, the Taiwan snake-heads group has engaged in rampant activities of abducting mainland women to stow to Taiwan, there are four reasons for this: First, the pornographic activities are spreading unchecked in Taiwan, behind which there are often huge cliques of evil forces, even with the involvement of privileged figures, making the situation more complicated; second, Taiwan authorities' punishment of stowing activities are too light, playing no role in deterring the criminals; third, Taiwan authorities politicize blows to criminal offense, subjectively they encourage complex of hostility toward the Chinese mainland, and objectively inflate the arrogance of the lawless people on both sides of the Straits, thus making Taiwan a hotbed for the criminals to escape the net of justice by using sea as an outlet. Despite the rampant stowing activities, the departments concerned of Taiwan authorities fixed their eyes on the mainland women abducted to Taiwan, they seldom investigated the kidnappers on the island, or merely finished up the matter negligently. In this vicious incident, a suspect arrested for carrying the stowaways to Taiwan was released on bail after only several days; fourth, The group of Taiwan's snake-heads, who resort to various means of deception and lure by promise of gain toward mainland residents, constantly change their stowing methods to escape attack.
For this reason, to check stowing, Taiwan authorities should first find the cause of stowing in themselves.
