Russia Sees Six-party Talks on DPRK Nuclear Issue Important Element of Int'l Efforts
Russia views the recent six-party talks on the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as "an important element of efforts made by the international community," Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said on Monday.

"We did not expect any breakthrough, this was only the first round, but dialogue is continuing," the Interfax news agency quoted the foreign minister as saying.
Ivanov reiterated Moscow's support for the continuation of the six-party talks, calling on parties involved to set date for the future talks, which are expected to produce a "mutually acceptablesolution that will create a stable situation in the region."
Delegations from China, the DPRK, the United States, South Korea, Russia and Japan attended the talks held in Beijing on Aug.27-29.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov, who attended the talks as Russia's top delegate, said here on Sunday upon returning from Beijing that the next round of multilateral meeting on the DPRK nuclear issue is scheduled between October andNovember in Beijing.
The official admitted that the multilateral talks "are proceeding with difficulties."
