The Beijing six-party talks on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) nuclear issue are useful, Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday.
"The Russian party regards the just-concluded talks as useful that allowed every party involved in the issue to better understand each other's position," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry also expressed Russia's determination to do all itcan for the constructive continuation of the talks in the interestof all the participating countries and for the benefit of peace and stability in the region.
The talks, involving China, the DPRK, the United States, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Russia and Japan, began on Wednesday morning and lasted three days.
The ministry said in another statement that Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and US Secretary of State Colin Powell held a telephone conversation Friday following the talks, pledging to keep looking for a diplomatic solution to the issue.
