Former Olympic champion Li Na clinched the seventh diving gold for China at the 22nd WorldUniversity Games as she won in the women's 10-meter platform on Thursday.

Li, synchronized 10m platform champion at the Sydney Olympics, carried her consistency through the competition and scored a winning mark of 554.01 points.

"Her performance could have been called perfect if not for the last dive," said Chinese team coach Zhang Ting, who also guided Tian Liang to the men's platform Olympic title in Sydney.

Li earned 69.12 points from her last dive with a difficult degree of 3.2 after she made a splash in the entry.

"But in all she did a great job, which was even better than what she had done in the world championships," said Zhang.

Li came third in the platform in the Barcelona World Championships last month.

Li's teammate Zhang Jun, winner of Russian Grand Prix in March this year, also put on a brilliant show as she took silver in 511.50.

The 24-year-old American Sara Hildebrand, who specializes in both platform and 3-meter springboard, finished third in 487.44.

By far, China has taken seven diving golds in as many events with three more remaining in men's platform, men's and women's synchronized platform.
