Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Minister of Information Nabil Amer said on Thursday that the PNA security forces are operating to prevent any Israeli excuse to carry out a widespread military operation in the Gaza Strip and other Palestinian territories.
Amer told reporters that the PNA is exerting efforts to stop anyviolations of the Palestinian hudna, or truce, referring to the Palestinian security forces' attempt to stop militants from firing Al Qassam rockets at Israel.
Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses said that militants of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and public security officers exchanged fire on Thursday in northern Gaza Stripas Hamas militants fired 4 Qassam rockets at Israel.
A PNA security official said that more public security forces were called to the scene, adding that the militants and the security officers exchanged fire, but no injuries were reported.
It seems that Israel is insisting to continue its aggression andcarry out military actions in the Palestinian territories regardless of the calls not to do so, said Amer.
He called for an immediate international intervention to end theIsraeli threats to carry out military actions against the Palestinians.
External powers must use its influence on Israel to stop the current deterioration in the region, the PNA official urged.
