Global Information, Early Warning System's Website Available in Chinese

The Global Information and Early Warning System's (GIEWS) website is now available in Chinese, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations saidon Wednesday in Rome.

The Global Information and Early Warning System's (GIEWS) website is now available in Chinese, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations saidon Wednesday in Rome.

The GIEWS' website is the leading source of information on foodproduction and food security for almost all countries in the world.The new Chinese webpage opens up information on GIEWS website, including two key publications: Foodcrops and Shortages and Food Outlook, to a large potential audience.

The GIEWS webmaster, Yanyun Li, who led the project to set up the Chinese version said to reporter of Xinhua News Agency that itis a great opportunity to be able to make the website's vast pool of information available in Chinese, "We expect quite a large readership in China and elsewhere - the information will be of useto a large audience including policy makers, researchers and students. Previously, GIEWS reports were only available in Chinesein hard copy, but now they are also instantly accessible online" she added.
