Wu Takes Her Third Diving Gold for China at Universiade
World champion Wu Minxia clinched her third diving gold Tuesday as she won the women's 3m springboard title at the 22nd World University Games.
The 19-year-old Wu, leading the field into the final, carried her consistency all through the competition as she scored 604.11 points to triumph.
Whereas her more famous teammate Guo Jingjing, a double world champion, had to settle for the silver on 571.17. And German DitteKotzian, finishing third in the synchronized 3m event at the worlds, took bronze with 513.72.
Wu was delighted by her second victory here following her 1m springboard win over Guo and their synchronized 3m triumph Sunday.
"I am happy with my third gold here and I think I did well in the competition," said Wu, who finished third in the 3m event at the Barcelona World Championships while Guo won the title.
The Chinese duo also grabbed a synchronized 3m springboard victory at the worlds.
"She brought her potential to a full display today," said a Chinese diving team coach Liu Henglin. "So she performed well and won."
