China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) hope the six-party talks about to begin in Beijing bear positive fruit, according to the China-Korea Leader's Forum being held Tuesday.

Delegates agreed that peace should replace confrontation and the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) should be solved through dialogue.

Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan addressed the one-day forum, which is jointly hosted by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs and the 21st Century Korea-China Exchange Association.

Delegates exchanged views on China-ROK relations and regional situations. They said they highly valued the development of relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 11 years ago.

The two sides expressed the belief that the development of bilateral ties not only benefits the fundamental interests of the two peoples but also is helpful to maintaining regional peace and stability.
