China strongly protested the Japanese right-wing activities in violation of China's territorial integrity and sovereignty by setting foot on the Diaoyu Islands, which are an integral part of China in the East China Sea.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan was replying to a news report that members of the Japan Youth League, a Japanese right-wing group, had once again illegally landed on the Diaoyu Islands on Monday morning.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry and Chinese embassy in Japan have been authorized to lodge solemn representations to the Japanese side respectively, Kong said.
The spokesman said that the Diaoyu Islands and its adjacent islets had been an integral part of China since ancient times, for which the Chinese side had indisputable historic and legal evidence.
Any unilateral action regarding the Diaoyu Islands taken by the Japanese side was illegal and invalid, for such action cannot alter the basic fact that the Diaoyu Islands are the integral territory of China, Kong noted.
The spokesman solemnly requested the Japanese side to take immediate effective measures to eradicate the impacts of the landing and prevent the re-occurrence of similar incidents.
Previously in 1996, 1999 and 2000, members of the right-wing Japan Youth League illegally landed on the Diaoyu Islands, establishing a lighthouse and a so-called shrine.
