The Chinese side encountered their third tough battle in a row with Serbia and Montenegro before they finally claimed the victory85-75, the same score as in their opening victory.
In the previous two games, the Chinese team defeated Finland 85-75 and defeat Japan 87-74.
The other berth is yet to be decided between Finland, one point with two matches to go and Serbia and Montenegro, three points with one match at hand.
Sui Feifei, last season's MVP in the Chinese women's league, and Wang Ling each scored 20 points to lead the team. Milica Dabovic and Katarina Manic both grabbed 12 for the Serbia and Montenegro side.
The Chinese men's basketballers, who eased into the second stage after a 92-72 victory over Turkey on Thursday, had one day off Friday.
Zhang Yongjun, head coach of the Chinese men's side, said that they should have no problem to rank eighth and hopefully will make it into semifinals.
"Ukraine, Serbia and Montenegro, Ukraine, and Japan are very tough, but we still have our chance," Zhang said.
On women's side, Italy overcame the United States 81-64, Ireland defeated South Africa 90-42, South Korea upset Canada 83-79, Russia crushed Slovenia 63-39.
