The Chinese government on Thursday donated a batch of medical equipment and contraceptives to the Kenyan government.
The donation, including B-ultrasonic machine, digital video colposcope imaging machine, galactorphore diagnosis/treatment machine and TV monitor, multifunctional infrared therapy machine, microscope, hydroxyprogestrone coproate injection and levonorgestrel silastic implant, is worth 23,219 US dollars.
Guo Chongli, Chinese ambassador to Kenya, on behalf of the State Family Planning Commission of China, donated the equipment and contraceptives to Kenyan Minister for Planning and National Development Peter Nyongo in Kenya's capital Nairobi.
"The donation is made in order to support the works of public health and the economic recovering plan of the Kenyan government,"Guo said, adding that "it's another friendly action by the Chinesegovernment to promote development of China-Kenya bilateral relations, especially in this year when the 40th anniversary of the establishment of China-Kenya diplomatic relations is celebrated."
"We are very grateful for the cooperation that Kenya and China is having," Nyongo said, noting that "our relationship is very important and valued."
Meanwhile, Nyongo said that the equipment and contraceptives will soon be distributed by the Kenyan government to various health facilities in the country.
