Romanian President Ion Iliescu visited the Zhongguancun Science Park in Beijing, knowned as China's Silicon Valley, Wednesday,
While visiting the Zhongguancun International Incubator Inc., Iliescu kept asking questions relating to the incubator policy and financial channels.
Then, he visited the Beijing Research Center of Huawei Technologies, another renowned high-tech base in the science park.
He praised Huawei Technologies as an "energetic" company, and said Romania welcomes cooperation between Huawei and Romanian companies, adding that this may help Chinese enterprises to expand their markets in Europe.
At lunchtime, he left the science park and met with the presidents of China ZTE corporation and China United Telecommunications Corporation, two of China's telecom industry giants.
ZTE has signed a 9.4 million US dollar contract with Romania's POStelecom, which is the biggest deal made between China and Romania for a decade. Since Romania opened its telecom market last year, more than 900 companies have been permitted to enter it.
Ilie Stanica, economics and commerce counselor of the Romanian Embassy in China, said his country attaches great importance to the development of the IT industry, and is planning to build a Romanian "Zhongguancun."
Stanica said China's experience in developing the IT industry is helpful for Romania.
