A total of 87,000 residents from two earthquake-hit areas in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were properly accommodated by Tuesday.
The quake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Bairin Left Banner and Ar Horqin Banner on Aug. 16, killing three people and injuring over 1,000 others, of whom 54 are in critical condition.
The quake, believed to be the most serious in 700 years in Bairin Left Banner and Ar Horqin Banner, also damaged more than 91,000 houses, leaving 115,000 people homeless, according to sources from Chifeng City.
Chifeng exercises judicial administration over the two counties. It is closely monitored due to its location on the western edge of the fertile Basin between the Songhua and Liaohe rivers to the east of the Greater Hinggan Mountains in northeast China.
Ma Shuchang, deputy mayor of Chifeng, said they have worked outa detailed plan on accommodating the remaining 28,000 quake victims.
He pledged to accommodate them well by Aug. 21, when 4,000 tents which are now being loaded onto trucks in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, will be transported to the quake-hit areas.
