China to Hold Cultural Week in St. Petersburg

China will stage various kinds of culture activities during the upcoming Week of China in St. Petersburg, the renowned scenic city in southern Russia.

China will stage various kinds of culture activities during the upcoming Week of China in St. Petersburg, the renowned scenic city in southern Russia.

The cultural exchange week, which is the largest of its kind held here by the Chinese government in recent years, will feast local residents with excellent performances made by first-class Chinese artists, said Zhao Qizheng, director of the Information Office of the Chinese government.

During the Week of China, scheduled for Aug. 20-28, a 300-member Chinese delegation will offer Chinese folk music show, acrobatic performance, model show, photo exhibition and other types of cultural activities, helping Russian people and foreign visitors to understand traditional Chinese art and culture as wellas Chinese people's modern life.

Local Russian officials have expressed their belief that the Week of China, which is jointly sponsored by the Chinese government and the Municipal Government of St. Petersburg, will contribute to all-round cooperation between China and Russia.
