Death Toll Rises to 31 in Flooded Coal Mine

A total of 31 miners had been confirmed dead by 6:00 p.m. Monday in a flooded coal mine in Zaozhuang City, in east China's Shandong Province, with four miners still missing.

A total of 31 miners had been confirmed dead by 6:00 p.m. Monday in a flooded coal mine in Zaozhuang City, in east China's Shandong Province, with four miners still missing.

The accident on July 26 trapped 37 miners working underground with only two saved.

Rescue work was continuing and it would be possible to find the missing bodies within this week, according to rescue officials.
