A probable food poisoning sent 39 people to the hospital Sunday after they attended a birthday party in Qijian County of Chongqing Municipality, southwest China.

All of them are now out of danger, said Dong Meiyue, director of the county health bureau.

More than 300 people were attending the party held in Liangjiang Restaurant on Saturday, when at 8:10 p.m. the first victim became ill and went to hospital. He was followed by the 38 others Sunday morning.

Victims suffered from stomachache, diarrhea and vomiting and they were diagnosed with food poisoning, doctors said.

Primary investigation showed the incident was caused by unclean dishes served at the party. The restaurant where the party was held has been closed for further investigation.
