Officials from US, Japan, South Korea Meet in Washington
Senior diplomats from the United States, South Korea and Japan met in Washington Wednesday to coordinate strategies for upcoming six-nation talks on the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Senior diplomats from the United States, South Korea and Japan met in Washington Wednesday to coordinate strategies for upcoming six-nation talks on the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The trilateral talks, which US officials described as "informal," are expected to last two days.
The delegations were headed respectively by US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs James Kelly,South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Lee Soo-Hyuck and Mitoji Yabunaka, director general of Asian and Oceanic Affairs Bureau of the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
The trilateral consultation came ahead of six-nation talks scheduled to be held in Beijing, China, later this month. The Beijing talks will be participated by the three nations in addition to China, the DPRK and Russia.
