Shanghai Adds Additional 1,600 Job Vacancies Each Day
Shanghai has created 1,600 job opportunities every single day this year due to thriving economic development and effective management of the job market, said Zhu Junyi, chief official in charge of labor and social security, on Wednesday.

From January to July, Shanghai reported 345,000 new jobs, 72,000 of which went to laid-off rural workers, according to government information.
The target for 2003 was to offer 400,000 additional posts and keep the unemployment rate to less than 5 percent.
A variety of efforts were made to help people find employment. More people were finding jobs in the private sector, community service, housekeeping and other fields, said Zhu.
The government also funded opportunities for those with specialdifficulties finding work. So far, over 10,000 government-funded posts have been arranged, at a salary of 700 to 800 yuan (85 to 96U.S. dollars) a month.
