Top Chinese Legislator Meets Sri Lankan PM
Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC),met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe Tuesday.

Wu said that Sino-Sri Lankan relations had been fostered by theleadership of earlier generations, and high-level contact between the two countries had been frequent, and the cooperation in all fields deepened.
He said relations with Sri Lanka constituted an important part of China's foreign policy, and the friendship would remained unchanged no matter how the international situation changed.
Wu said that the parliaments of China and Sri Lanka had maintained friendly contact, and the Chinese NPC valued the relations with its Sri Lankan counterpart, and was ready to work with Sri Lanka to expand the cooperation between the two countries.
Wu said China had developed its economy together with its political reform.
"Difficulties are not scary, and overcoming any difficulty willlet us learn and make new progress."
He hoped Sri Lanka would have success in its development efforts.
Ranil Wickremesinghe said he hoped Sri Lanka and China would continue to develop the relationship, which was a common ground for all parties in Sri Lanka.
He congratulated China on progress in economic construction.
He said Sri Lanka was committed to domestic peace and economic development, and hoped to strengthen cooperation with China to achieve common prosperity.
