Chinese Top Legislator Meets Niger PM
Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), met here Friday with Niger's Prime Minister Hama Amadou in the Great Hall of the People.

Wu said that China-Niger relations have developed smoothly since the two countries resumed diplomatic relations in 1996, and they have expanded cooperation in various fields and supported each other in international affairs.

He expressed appreciation for the Niger government's adherence to the "one-China" stance.

Wu said China attaches importance to developing friendly relations with Niger and friendly bilateral relations conform to the fundamental interests of the two peoples, and help cope with challenges in the new situation.

China's NPC is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Niger parliament to promote the long-term development of relations, he said.

Wu said that China and Niger have great potential for cooperation in the energy sector and other areas, and China hopes that economic and trade cooperation would further develop.

Hama said that China's development has impressed him a lot, andNiger will draw on China's experience.

He said he hoped more Chinese enterprises would invest in Niger.Niger's government will provide favorable conditions for the investors, the prime minister said.
