US President George W. Bush on Wednesday reiterated his stance that the security fence being raised by Israel around the West Bank is a problem.
"We're talking to Israel about all aspects of the fence. I madeit clear, I thought the fence was a problem," Bush told reporters at his Texas ranch where he is vacationing.
"We will continue to work on this issue, as well as other issues," Bush said. "I do believe we're making progress."
The US president said, "The key for a peace to happen is for both parties to assume their necessary obligations and responsibilities, to create the conditions so that people have confidence that people know their lives will be safe and that prosperity can break out."
After a White House meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas on July 25, Bush called the security fence a problem."It is very difficult to develop confidence between the Palestinians and Israel with a wall snaking through the West Bank," he said.
