KCNA Urges US to Abandon Attempt to Strangle DPRK

The United States should abandon its illusion about strangling the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the coming six-party talks on settling the nuclear issue, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said in a commentary released on Tuesday.

The United States should abandon its illusion about strangling the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the coming six-party talks on settling the nuclear issue, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said in a commentary released on Tuesday.

"If the United States persists in its anti-DPRK policy, the DPRK will enhance its distrust of and resistance against the United States. Given the situation, the ultimate settlement of the DPRK-US nuclear issue will not come out even if the talks are held," the Korean-language commentary said.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry announced Monday that the six-party talks will be held soon in Beijing. Besides the DPRK and the United States, China, Russia, South Korea and Japan will also be involved.

The commentary denounced a series of anti-DPRK actions committed by the United States recently, including the reinforcement of military buildup in South Korea, the blockade against the DPRK at sea and in the air, as well as its attempt to submit the nuclear issue to the UN Security Council for discussion.

"These actions prove that the United States is still preoccupied in its illusion to smother the DPRK," the commentary said, adding that "the United States must abandon its illusion and come back to the reality."

The upcoming talks and results are totally dependent on the US attitude, it added.
