Tropical storm Morakot hit Jinjiang in southeastern China's
Fujian
Province Monday evening, with strong winds near the eye reaching 18 meters per second.
Morakot brought a small 40 50 mm rainfall to the city and nearby areas, which helped lower local high temperatures, but was not enough to ease the serious drought, said the provincial anti-drought and flooding headquarters.
The typhoon will continue moving northwest at a lower speed.
