Russian Parliament Speaker Visits Beijing
Chairman Sergei Mironov of the Russian Federation Council said here Monday his current visit to China is aimed at making friends with Chinese leaders of the new generation and promoting exchanges between parliaments of the two countries.

Mironov and his party arrived in Beijing Monday morning for a two-day official visit to China.
During an interview by Chinese and Russian media at the airport, Mironov said he had met with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Moscowin May.
Mironov said he would exchange views with Chinese leaders on a range of important international issues including denuclearizationon the Korean Peninsula during his stay in Beijing.
He described the visit as one of the regular friendly visits between the Russian Federation Council and the National People's Congress of China, since high-level exchanges between them are frequent.
In response to questions raised by a Xinhua reporter, Mironov said relations between Russia and China have developed rapidly in recent years, and there exists great potential for the two countries to increase cooperation in the fields of trade and foreign affairs.
