The stalled Sri Lankan peace talks between the government and the separatist Tamil Tiger rebels will be resumed in Paris, capital of France, The Sunday Times reported.

The paper said that Norwegian facilitators who are brokering peace between the Sri Lankan government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels are currently making arrangements forthe talks in consultation with the French government.

The Norwegian facilitators have successfully secured Paris as the venue for a meeting of LTTE legal advisors in mid August as a prelude to the resumption of the seventh round of peace talks, thepaper said.

The LTTE rebels will discuss government proposals on an interimadministration to be set up in the war-battered north and east andtheir counter proposals in Paris ahead of the next round of peace talks.

The government handed over their proposals on a provincial administrative structure to the LTTE rebels last month through Norwegian facilitators and the rebels said they are studying the proposals and their counter proposals are expected to be submittedto the government next week.

The LTTE rebels demand a "politico-administrative" setup for the north and east regions, a precondition for them to return to the Norwegian-brokered peace process.

The direct talks between the two sides have been stalled since April when the LTTE pulled out of the talks, blaming the government for slow implementation of agreements reached at previous six rounds of peace talks since last September.
