Fatah movement, chaired by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, on Saturday called on the international Quartet, Arab League and Islamic Conference to pressure on Israel "to stop its aggressive policy against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails."
The movement said in a leaflet that these organizations areexpected "to protect the Palestinian prisoners from the Israeli repression and the brutal punishment that aims to shut their mouths down."
All Palestinian prisoners should be released without any conditions and discrimination among the prisoners "if Israel isreally serious in making peace with the Palestinians," the leafletsaid.
"These prisoners are political prisoners and were fighting for their freedom, and they are a symbol for their just and fair Palestinian cause," it said.
Beating and repressing the Palestinian prisoners in the jailsand using tough measures against them "would be considered aserious Israeli escalation and warns of serious results on allissues and all levels," it added.
"The Israeli policy of playing games on the issue of the prisoners and the dangerous escalation are not justified and indicate the Israeli government is not serious at all in achieving calmness," said the leaflet.
