Wen Calls for Displaying Noted Chinese Oilfield's Pioneering, Hardworking Spirit
"I have affections for Iron Man (Wang Jinxi), for No. 1205 drilling team, and also for drilling rigs," Premier Wen Jiabao Friday said while calling on the drilling team during his inspection tour of China's largest oilfield, in the northernmost Heilongjiang province.

During his inspection tour of Daqing Oilfield, the Chinese premier was told that that day, Aug. 1, was the 80th anniversary of the birth of Wang Jinxi, the country's best-known "National Model Oil Worker" in 1960s who is prestigious as "Iron Man Wang", and also the 50th anniversary of the founding of the famous oil well-drilling team.
Over the past five decades, the team have sunk a total of 1,550oil wells with a combined depth of more than 1.95 million meters.
"Marvelous! That is equivalent to the height of over 200 Mount Qomolangmas (8,848 meters above sea level), the world's summit in Tibet," Wen said.
Premier Wen ten stepped on a drilling rig, where he told the workers that he himself had operated a drilling rig when he workedin a geological inspection team decades ago, and that he loved working the drilling rigs.
During the visit, he called on oil workers to hand down the priceless "Iron Man Spirit" from generation to generation and further display and carry forward the spirit of the Daqing Oilfield, an integration of patriotism, pioneering, truth seeking,as well as dedication.
