China's Medical Care Recipients Number Over 100 Million

The number of people with medicare insurance in China has exceeded 100 million for the first time, according to statistics released by the Labor Ministry Tuesday.

The number of people with medicare insurance in China has exceeded 100 million for the first time, according to statistics released by the Labor Ministry Tuesday.

Statistics show 100.94 million people had medical care insurance by the end of June.

The revenue earned by basic medical care insurance increased by53.5 percent to 39.4 billion yuan (4.74 billion US dollars) while the expenditure of the fund reached 27.9 billion yuan (3.36 billion US dollars), up 65 percent over the same time last year.

The ministry will take further step to expand coverage of basicmedical care insurance and improve the management of premiums.
