"The operation, which is still going on, is the biggest in the past several months in Kandahar province, and it may eradicate allthe Taliban in the region," Pushton said.

In an operation launched after suspected Taliban attacked a checkpoint near the village overnight, government troops searched the village, house by house, for several hours on Friday morning, a report reaching here said.
