All tickets of the Real Madrid football match for public sale were sold out at the small hours Friday in an orderly manner.
The sale of tickets started at 21:00 p.m. Thursday night and was completed at 2:55 a.m. Friday. The tickets were first sold to the senior citizens and disabled and then to the members of the public.
About 5,000 Hong Kong residents lined up for tickets and quite a number of resident had waited for three or four days. Dozens of policemen and security guards went there for maintaining order.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced Friday that the Mongkok Stadium would be opened on August 8 to admit 9,000 spectators to view the match live via huge TV broadcast.
Tickets will be distributed by drawing lots. No queuing is necessary. Details will be announced shortly.
Arrangement will also be made for about 10,000 audience to viewa training session of Real Madrid held on August 7 in the Hong Kong Stadium.
The attendants will include participants to the children and youth football training schemes, clients of the Social Welfare Department (SWD), such as SARS victims, night drifters, youths outreached by SWD and the disabled.
Real Madrid sportswear are also well sold in some Hong Kong shops.
The match between Real Madrid and Hong Kong football team will be held on August 8 in Hong Kong Stadium, which can contain 40,000people.
