Death Toll from Nepal's Landslides, Floods Rises to 58
Landslides and floods triggered by incessant rains since Wednesday have left at least 58 people dead and over 30 others missing in various parts of Nepal, according to a press release issued by the Nepali Home Ministry on Friday.

"At least 22 people died at Manakamana village in Gorkha district, nine perished in Nawalparasi district, six in Tanahu district, all located in western Nepal. While 11 others died in Chitawan district, seven in Makawanpur district in central Nepal and one each in Rupandehi, Bara and Siraha districts," the press release said.
Besides, traffic on the Prithvi, Tribhuvan and Pasang Lhamu highways has been disrupted. On the Prithvi Highway alone, there have been landslides in 11 places.
The press release added that a total of 46 out of the 75 districts in the country have been affected from floods, landslides and lightning strikes so far since April, in which at least 120 people died, 27 went missing and 57 were injured.
The natural disasters have directly affected 3,199 families andcompletely destroyed 1,443 houses, causing the damage of physical infrastructure worth 60 million Nepali rupees (822,000 US dollars).
During the monsoon season every year in the Himalayan kingdom, hundreds of people died and thousands of families were affected due to landslides and floods. More than 440 people died from such kind of disasters last year.
