China Reports Sharp Growth in Oil, Petrochemical Products Trade

China imported and exported oil and petrochemical products worth 53.28 billion US dollars during the first six months of 2003, a 40 percent rise on an annual basis, according to a national petrochemical industry conference on Thursday.

China imported and exported oil and petrochemical products worth 53.28 billion US dollars during the first six months of 2003, a 40 percent rise on an annual basis, according to a national petrochemical industry conference on Thursday.

The imports of oil and petrochemical products in the six-month period were 38.16 billion US dollars, up 42.8 percent, and exports 15.12 billion US dollars, up 33.3 percent.

The industrial output of the oil and petrochemical industry totaled 28.48 billion yuan (about 3.4 billion US dollars) in the first half year, up 25.4 percent.
