Six Die in Wet Weather Disasters in West China

Six people have died and five were missing after floods and landslides struck Lintan County, northwest China's Gansu Province, said the local government Wednesday.

Six people have died and five were missing after floods and landslides struck Lintan County, northwest China's Gansu Province, said the local government Wednesday.

The floods and landslides, which followed torrential rains, occurred between 10:00 p.m. and midnight Tuesday, destroying more than 210 houses and 10-kilometer highway.

The provincial government has dispatched a rescue team to the flooded area.

More heavy rain is forecast for some areas of this region in the next few days, said the provincial administration for floods and drought.
