Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's party has claimed victory in the general elections, saying it expects to win about 73 of the 123 seats in the National Assembly.

Independent observers monitoring the count also indicate the Cambodian People's Party is on its way to another five-year term, which has been widely expected. Official results are due on August 8.

The voting process has so far won praise from international monitors, despite the grenade blast in downtown Phnom Penh that slightly injured one person.
